Reviews: "This new take on the old children's classic begins with great promise. PLOT has done well in giving the title part to Shae Thomas, who attacks the role with energy and the ability to make the most of an attractively expressive face. Carl Fordham's script takes us on a pretty straight-forward journey through the familiar tale. He adds a narrator ably handled by Luc Brien. An inspired idea was to cast Jason Wright as the Duchess; he exploited her macho nature and gave us the unique experience of seeing a female royal sporting a five-o'clock shadow. The whole thing was played with zest - perhaps a little too much. Less squealing and shouting would have been a great improvement. Claire Thornett's Queen of Hearts was fittingly mean and menacing, but I felt that if she had screamed once more... Good work was done by Ryan Davey's King of Hearts, Ingrid Wilgers [sic] as a light-hearted Caterpillar, Quinn Griggs as a creepy Gryphon and Anna Gayton as the tearful Turtle - and others" (First Night with Wal Eastman, The Mercury, August 9, 2006).
