Synopsis

Treasure Island is the story of Jim Hawkins (Stephanie Stevens), a young English boy who sets off on the adventure he has always dreamed of. Captain Smith (Ryan Davey) and the slightly deranged Ben Gunn (Rowan Harris) help protect Jim on his adventure from deadly pirates Mad Jane (Laura Bailey) and Long John Silver (Jason Wright) as everyone searches to find the mysterious Skeleton Island and Captain Flint's burried treasure.

Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel has been adapted to the stage by Owen Tubb in all its original excitement and adventure. With a cast of over 20 of Tasmania's finest young actors the show will feature a range of innovative lighting and sound techniques to help bring the show alive for people of all ages.

The show is also being preformed at a range of Hobart primary schools. Actor Jason Wright, who plays the show's villain Long John Silver, stated that performing to children is one of the best experiences he has had on stage. "The kids are really rewarding to perform to," said Wright. "They just get really involved in the whole show, calling out and screaming at the characters, you can see they're really having a good time and that helps bring the show to life."
